2020 a year of Vision and Clarity and…

December 28, 2019

So, here we are at the end of not only another year, but another decade! And you have, no doubt, heard that this coming year (2020) will be the year of clarity and perfect vision. Let ME be clear right here and now. I am in complete agreement that it will be just such a year, but who hasn’t already heard that by now? (Raise you hand right here … or not.)

Are you a person who finds yourself wondering “what else” will 2020 be? Well, I have heard a couple of things via Holy Spirit about what 2020 will be and I’d like to release one of them to you now.

No hype. No fanfare. Just the facts ma’am (as Sgt. Joe Friday would say. — Yes, I realize that I’m dating myself and that many of you will NOT get the reference. Sorry.)

The LORD says that 2020 will be a year of “New Precedents.” Whoa! OK. So, what’s a ‘precedent’? Webster’s dictionary describes a precedent as: something done or said that may serve as an example or rule to authorize or justify a subsequent act of the same or an analogous kind.

In short, God is saying that what has served as your example or rule to authorize or justify you actions is no longer valid and that He is pushing the reset button for your future behaviors. In fact, God is setting NEW rules for not only your future behaviors, but for the situations you’re about to encounter in 2020.

He is going to SO come through for you that you will no longer have any valid reason to doubt Him about such matters going forward! When you come up on such-and-such situation you will have as your point of reference and example the new precedent He set for you in 2020.

Think about what I’m saying to you. What happened in 1986 or 2006 or even 2016 no longer holds validity for your decisions or behaviors going forward! He is setting New Precedents for your life and decisions and behaviors that will ensure your victory and success!

NOW, begin to look for it and to recognize it with new vision and new clarity! If you look with expectancy you will NOT miss it. It’s important that you take notice because this will become the “example and rule” for you going forward.

Whew! Are you ready for your New? It’s coming and it will not delay. So in the immortal words of Bishop T.D. Jakes, “Get ready! Get ready! Get ready!

Why you really don’t want to be “normal”

October 29, 2019

Why you really don’t want to be “normal”

Have you ever said (or heard someone else say), “Why can’t I just be like ‘normal people’?” Perhaps it was in jest or maybe out of frustration, but either way it expressed a desire for a life different than one is currently experiencing and more like the life we perceive and believe that others are currently living.

The truth is you really don’t know what the other people’s experience is … only yours. Still, somehow you’ve come to at least two conclusions: (1) your life isn’t normal and (2) normal is desirable.

I’d like to posit for your consideration these two simple responses. First, your life is probably MUCH more “normal” than you may feel that it is. Secondly, since your life is already “normal” perhaps normal is NOT such a desirable state after all.

Most people seem to have more than enough stress, anxiety, illness, disappointment, grief, regret, debt, and anger in their lives. For them (and perhaps for you too) it has become a normal way of life. But here’s my protest: Although these situations are “common” they are not to become “normative” in your life. They should not be conditions that define your normal.

However, we humans tend to adjust to the state of affairs around us, adopt a herd mentality, and become stuck in patterns of behavior and living that become normal to us. Again I must protest that this is NOT life as it is intended by our Creator to Be!

Consider the following scripture verses my attempt to jar you out of any sense of fake-normalcy that you may have been lulled into by circumstances. You CAN experience a “new normal” beginning today.

John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 15:11 – I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Romans 14:17 – For the kingdom of God is … righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

1 Timothy 6:17 – …put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

3 John 2 – Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

These are just a handful of scriptures that indicate a different kind of normal than most people are experiencing today. I encourage you to take a look at what scripture has to say about you. You may just find that you’re living way beneath that which God has made possible and available for you.

Normal is SO overrated. Choose instead a life of joy and abundance. Choose instead a life of health and blessing. And even when troubles come, “be of good cheer” knowing that Christ has already overcome the world and leads the way to your Joyful Place.

Personal Asset Mapping for Kingdom Development

January 13, 2019

During the seven years I worked for the local United Way, I learned a great deal about community and neighborhood development. One of the most important lessons I learned was about “Asset Mapping.” Asset Mapping is a tool that relies on a core belief of asset-based community development; namely, that good things exist in communities and that those things can be highlighted and encouraged — these are assets suited to advancing those communities.

Said slightly differently, Asset Mapping assumes that before any outside entity arrives to “save the day” those individuals and families already have valuable assets that can be useful in solving the problems they face and building a better, stronger neighborhood or community. These assets need to be identified, valued, and put into useful service.

Here at the beginning of a new year, it’s important that we do some personal asset mapping. By that I mean taking a personal inventory of what you already possess that can be useful in solving your problems, overcoming your challenges, and contributing to the well being of others.

It’s easy to undervalue or even dismiss completely those things which you already possess. Now, I’m not picking on you, for you’re not the only one and far from the first to feel that way.

I recall reading of Moses in the Old Testament. When he was facing the Red Sea in front of him and Pharaoh’s fast approaching army behind him, he felt like he was in a “no win” situation.

But just then God asks him a question, “What’s that in your hand?” Moses may have felt like answering, “This old thing? I know you’re not talking about this old staff that I’ve had for 40 years!”

But that was exactly what God was talking about. With a bit of direction from God and the backing of Holy Spirit, Moses used that which he already possessed and saved a nation!

I don’t know if God is calling you to save a nation, but I do believe that He is issuing a clarion call to you that it is time to take a personal inventory and that you shouldn’t be shy about valuing what He has gifted you to be and do.

So go ahead in the next few days and take an inventory … a personal inventory.  Do a little internal asset mapping.  Allow Holy Spirit to reveal to you everything that God had given you already, and the strengths and skills you already possess! He has a tremendous work for you to do, but you’ll need to know and understand that He has given you tools already and NOW is the time to use them. After all, we’re not just developing a neighborhood. We’re working on a Kingdom!

Who told you that it’s too late?

September 3, 2018

Who told you that it’s too late? They lied.

As I am writing this, the calendar has just turned over to September, the ninth month and much is being said about that fact. Some are saying that nine is the number of birthing. Others add that we have entered the third trimester of the year and that there are symbolic parallels with those of a woman’s third trimester of pregnancy. Now, I’m good with all of that and I too am excited about what God is bringing to manifestation/birth in this season, but I’d like to address another message today.

It’s a message that may only be broadcasting on the “station” between your ears, but it’s a really strong signal and the volume seems to be getting louder.  This message says, “It’s too late!”

It’s too late for what, you might ask. But I think you may already know. The message goes on to elaborate that it’s too late for that dream you’ve been holding onto; it’s too late for the ministry you’d hope to launch; it’s too late to start the business you have been envisioning; it’s too late to have the relationship you have imagined; it’s too late in fact, to do anything except what you’ve been doing. The “seed” is dead and it is simply too late for anything to develop from it.

It’s too late. The year’s already coming to a close. It’s too late. We’re nearing the end of another decade. It’s too late, you just had another birthday. It’s too late. Too many people are already doing what you wanted to do. It’s too late. The market is saturated. It’s too late. I missed God on the thing and there’s no chance now.

I want to share a scripture with you and then a couple of quick stories that may just shift your thinking about the clocks and calendars that you’ve been giving so much authority in your life.  First, let’s take a look at 1 Peter 1:23-25

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

I want to point out here that, first of all, YOU as a born again believer, are born of incorruptible seed. This scripture tells us that the incorruptible seed is the Word of God. I don’t know if you just heard me, but I said that the Word of God is incorruptible seed. So if you have received a Word, a true and actual Word from God … that Seed is viable!

While I’m here, let me also tell you that your physical age is an illegitimate authority when it comes up against a Word that God has spoken into your life. Some have said, I’m 40; I’m 50; I’m 60; I’m 70 … It’s too late.

THE DEVIL IS A LIAR. BUT EVERY WORD FROM GOD IS TRUE!

I’m reminded right here of the call of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. We find it in Jeremiah 1:4-8.

The Call of Jeremiah

The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

God essentially says to Jeremiah, “Shut up. You don’t even KNOW how old you are! I knew you before you were even conceived in your mother’s womb.”

Stop! Stop today giving the clock and the calendar authority in your life that they do not deserve!

Now let me get to my stories. In 2005 scientists in Israel successfully germinated and grew a seed that they had found during excavations of Herod’s palace. The seeds were approximately 2,000 years old! The seeds were those of a date plant (I think that’s really funny that it was a “date” plant, but I digress.)

May I tell you that more than a decade later the plant has grown to over 10 feet tall and has pollinated and produced dates (fruit)? I think that is amazing, but the seeds were “only” 2,000 years old.

But hold on for my second story! More recently scientists from Russia published a study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reporting the germination and growth of seeds carbon dated at approximately 32,000 years old! Yes. I said 32,000 years old.

And you were saying that you are how old? You were saying that your dream, your vision, your Word from God is how old? But you’ve given up on it because you believed that the “seed” was dead, non-viable.

I dare say that NO ONE reading this is 2,000 years old (not to mention 32K years old)! How dare you give up on the incorruptible seed that is the Word of God that He spoke into your life!

Allow me to close very simply by saying “It’s NOT over!” It is NOT too late! NOW is the time for birthing, for manifesting! Now is the appointed time and what you’re working with is INCORRUPTIBLE SEED! If it is properly placed, watered, and cultivated, it WILL grow and it WILL produce fruit!!! So what are you waiting for? Grab that “seed” and get busy! You’re going to see a harvest that you thought would never come because God’s word is incorruptible seed and your faith will bring manifestation in this season!

Blessings!

I didn’t really pay attention … until I paid attention. But I’m really glad that I didn’t discard my blessing.

RESET: Now is the time!

June 25, 2018

I woke up this morning with this singular word reverberating in my spirit. So, here’s a quick Periscope that I hope will be a timely revelation (or reminder) to you. You are still “in the Game” and God has not changed his mind about you. 🙂

Where Does The Time Go?

June 10, 2018

OMG! Where does the time go? That’s the question that I’m grappling with as I write this brief update. Here I am back on my blog and I see that I haven’t written a post in seven (7) months or so. Wow! No excuse. Just WOW!

Please understand that it’s not that I haven’t been active or that I haven’t had anything to say. In fact, I’ve done six complete series at my local church in that time and am currently teaching a seventh!  Here are the topics I’ve covered in that time span:

December 2017: Consecration, Proclamation, Manifestation (Week 1-5)

January 2018: Elevations of Life (Weeks 1-3)

February 2018: Leveraging “Now and Then” for “Next” (Weeks 1-3)

March 2018: The Forgiving Way (Weeks 1-4)

April 2018: GRACE: More Than You Thought (Weeks 1-5)

May 2018: What’s The Point: A Study in Joy (Weeks 1-3)

June 2018: Inter-Worship; Worship-Cession; Intercessory Worship

I’m hoping to expound on some (or all) of these here on the blog, as well as on Facebook and Periscope. I do know that the Word that God has put in me to share locally can and will impact many more people… IF they have the opportunity to hear/experience it.

So, bear with me. I AM coming and bringing revelation and a word of grace and freedom with me. 🙂

Blessings & Grace

Sometimes, CLARITY comes in the DOING.

November 25, 2017

Consider this passage from John 9:6-7; “…He (Jesus) spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.” So he went away and washed, AND CAME BACK SEEING.

Of Mindset and Meaning…

May 12, 2017

Have you ever considered that the way you think about things affects the meaning you derive (or assign) from that thing? Let’s talk about mindset and meaning.

Loving God with All My Heart?

March 29, 2010

When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He responded with a quotation of Deuteronomy 6:5. But in this crazy world where so much other stuff is competing for the attention and love of our hearts, how do we love God with all our heart? Check out this brief article and tools outline to gain some insights to that question.
